holiday giving.

over the holiday season, my family and i try to volunteer together. last year we volunteered for Meals on Wheels which is delivering meals to those that qualify for varying reasons.

this year, we're volunteering, through the Salvation Army, to cook a hot meal for a small group of women of The Well which is The Salvation Army’s daytime drop in center for women who have been sexually exploited and trafficked in Columbus, Ohio. we're also volunteering to be cart runners, helping clients load their carts full of goods from shopping at the Christmas Cheer center.

i have also been giving back through my full-time job ... i'm on the philanthropy committee and december was my month to organize - we particpated in a Winter Wishes program and a Coat Drive, both through New York Cares

it feels good to give to those less fortunate than us. please get involved!

i encourage everyone to look into volunteer opportunities in your hood. there's something for everyone (i know working in a soup kitchen might not be appealing to everyone but you can cook a meal and drop it off or donate money or clothes). two great sites for finding opportunities - Volunteers of America and Salvation Army.

happy volunteering!
