waisted plaid.

top: gap (similar). plaid shirt: abercrombie (similar-ish) jeans: BDG. shoes: zara. clutch: american apparel. sunglasses: ray-ban.

ok, total throwback to middle school. i know allison (of ladybird) remembers this look. we used to take way over-sized flannel shirts and tie them around our waist with our ill-fitting jeans (not our fault, that's just how they were back then) and pro-keds (which were actually pretty cool and still are today). who knew the look would come back around .... although in a bit more updated way. but that's how fashion is - cyclical. i'm probably a bit too slouchy (if you haven't noticed yet, i love slouch) but you can do this look with skinny jeans (which i'll probably do next) or a more fitted top for a sleeker look.

harem pants.

top: j.crew (similar). pants: H&M (similar). shoes: zara. clutch: the limited (similar). hat: american apparel. rhinestone necklace: F21 (similar). sunglasses: ray-ban.

finally, the sun! the weekend was at least sunny but it was still pretty cold. so.over.it. and we're getting snow today, lovely! ok, now that i'm over that vent .... this outfit is completely comfortable (hello harem pants and a sweatshirt!) and my favorite colors (or non-colors) - grey, black and white. i dressed it up with pointy suede heels, a chunky rhinestone necklace layered with my gold coin necklace and a white clutch (oh, and a beanie, obviously). these pants are also great for super casual days with nike sneakers.

happy monday and cheers to a good week!

sporty.

shirt: gap (similar). pants: nike (similar). shoes: vince camuto (similar). beanie: street vendor (similar). bag: the limited, sample sale (similar). sunglasses: similar here and here.

ok .... if it was appropriate to wear these pants every day .... i would. they are so comfortable (obviously) and honestly, pretty much on trend. leave it to nike. they're my bf's old soccer warm-up pants and one of the few items i have stolen borrowed from him. i love juxtaposition .... the gold heels and silver clutch mixed with the sporty and casual elements of the slouchy nike pants, beanie and sunglasses do it well. i realize this isn't a look for everyone but you can do something similar with these or these pants.

happy weekend!

animals.

top, jacket: vintage. jeans: the limited (similar). heels: zara. hat: street vendor (similar). bag: tre vero (old).

this shirrrrrrrt. i got it at Buffalo Exchange (a vintage place) a few weeks ago. i love animal print but this smashing of so many animals all together in one shirt? amazing (and ok, i know, a little bit ridiculous but it's fun). i kept the rest of the outfit pretty simple since the print is so busy, with black skinnies and black heels .... plus a splash of red in the clutch .... and of course a beanie and a fur hood (it's still so cold in nyc!).

happy thursday!

camo.

top: j.crew. jeans: gap (similar). heels: zara. bag: vintage. beanie: street vendor (similar).

i really like camo print. it's like leopard, it acts like a neutral. and these jeans are fun and versatile - you can pair with solid colors (like i did here) or if you want to have more fun with it, wear with prints and stripes. and i'm excited about this shirt, it's like a glorified pajama top. i saw it in j.crew a while ago when i was shopping with a client and when i ran through the store the other day looking for spring stuff for clients, i saw that it was on sale plus 30% off that. bargain!

first day of spring is on wednesday ... wouldn't know it considering it's still snowing here ... i guess it's just more of an excuse to keep wearing beanies ... like i need one :)

happy monday!

denim on denim.

top: gap (similar). jeans: BDG. shoes: vince camuto (similar). beanie: american apparel. watch: timex. arrow cuff: stella & dot. black bracelet: lust bracelet. skull ring: via ladybird. sunglasses: ray-ban. bag: henri bendel (similar).

the canadian tuxedo ... i've always said that i would never wear denim on denim (just like i have said and will forever say that i will never wear uggs. that you can hold me to. for sure.) .... maybe this scared me away from the all denim look. kidding. kind of. but really, i think i have seen it done wrong so many times and on so many levels that i just never wanted to try it. however, recently i've seen it done right (i'm talking to you, man repeller) and it inspired me to wear the look. and voila. i secretly (or not so secretly now) like it. a lot.

if you're brave enough to try this at home ... try contrasting denim. the jeans should be darker than the shirt or vise versa. and i like the slouchy, comfortable look as it's not so serious or contrived. it conveys a more relaxed, laid back look ... as this look should be in my opinion.
